The Junction furniture store, once located at Oak Bay Junction in Victoria. The neighbourhood has been left relatively untouched by recent urban developments and remains a favourite muse owing to its historic character and eclectic mix of shops.

A look from a 20th-floor balcony from one residential tower to another in Vancouver’s West End. These apartment blocks hold a certain fascination for me, both for the patterns they create in the skyline and the way their monolithic facades hide in plain sight the colourful stories of all who live inside.

Loon Bay Park is almost a small afterthought of a park along the upper reaches of Victoria’s Beach Drive. An abandoned Sheriff's Office in the town of Vaughn, New Mexico. As the town slowly recedes into history, its dusty legacy remains as something of a natural, open-air museum. Dozens of abandoned homes and businesses sit wilting in the desert heat, their colours changing as the sun made its way across the horizon.

A story of my artistic revelation in New Mexico, focused on an abandoned gas station in the town of Vaughn along Highway 285. I expected to find a dull and colourless landscape as I travelled across the state, but instead I came to understand the reason New Mexico is known as the 'land of enchantment.' At every turn this dull and colourless land produced a spectrum of colour, typified by these reflections from the window of an abandoned gas station onto the road. Such a desolate place has never felt so inspiring (imagine how I felt once I reached Santa Fe!).
